October is National Adopt-A-Shelter Dog Month

… and we have a number of young and young-at-heart dogs waiting for new homes. In fact, we currently have more than two dozen wonderful dogs in house waiting to be adopted!

Awesome dogs like Turner (above), a big, slobbery, 4-year-old goofball of a dog who will brighten even the gloomiest of days with his big smile, even bigger heart and his silly ways. Turner is loving, affectionate and very playful. He is happy to romp around with his fellow canines or snuggle with his humans. If you are looking for a happy-go-lucky pooch, then stop in and meet Turner.

We also have Sweet Girl (left), a dog that really lives up to her name, being super sweet with people. She is also ALL CATTLE DOG–smart, strong-willed, stubborn…she needs a job and she needs someone who will establish rules and be a strong leader. While they are beautiful dogs, they are not for beginners. That being said, the experienced cattle-dog family will absolutely adore this charming girl!

Lili (right) is another charmer (and she has had a nice grooming since the photo was taken, so she’s even prettier now!). The staff and volunteers are all in love with this fluffy gal. At 8 years old, she is the perfect age for someone who does not want to deal with all that puppy foolishness. Lily is super affectionate and loving with people; however, she needs a quiet home without other pets so she can have all of your love to herself.

We also have great news to share: long-term resident Snow, our handsome black-and-white Akita, after more than a year of patiently waiting, has finally found his happily-ever-after in a home with a wonderful couple. It may take a week, a month or even a year, in some instances, to find the right home for our animals. But, here at Pope Memorial Humane Society, we are committed to doing just that. And with your help, we can continue to do that for all the animals in our care. Stop in today and see if we have your next best buddy — be they dog, cat, furred or feathered.
