I am always in awe of our shelter volunteers. So many of them have busy, complicated lives full of serious commitments and responsibilities and yet here they are, generously giving their time to help homeless animals.
Christie Banow is a woman with a very full plate. Christie is a mom of three sons, two of whom have special needs. She also works as a seasonal landscaper and is a long-time volunteer for Avian Haven where she helps rehabilitate injured birds. Yet every Monday morning she comes in to help us clean the cat condos and then later in the week she helps us walk our shelter dogs. Christie says she "enjoys working with the animals and learning as much as I can" while she is in the shelter. "It's a really great community of animal lovers at the shelter. Volunteering gives me a sense of purpose and I love helping out the animals and their people."
Thank you so much, Christie, for spending some of your valuable free time here at PMHS.
