Microchips and Chocolate Chips

Microchips dog

Update: Thank you, Loyal Biscuit Company and all who brought their pets to be “chipped” (or took chocolate chip cookies home to eat)!  These three events raised over $1500 to benefit the Shelter while making pets easy to find in the event that they become lost.

Trained shelter staff implanted the tiny, rice-sized I.D., which is encoded with a unique number and implanted just under the skin in the scruff of the neck. The process is simple and only takes a few seconds. The ‘chip’ can later be detected and read by a scanner used by shelters, veterinarians and other agencies.

Losing a pet can be a devastating and traumatic experience. Micro-chipping your pet can help link your pet with a 24/7 recovery network. This will greatly increase the chance that your pet will be returned to you, if ever lost or stolen.
