Meet Your Match is designed to increase successful dog adoptions by matching the "canine-ality" of the dog with the "person-ality" of the adopting family.  Meet Your Match is designed in increase bonds - not those based on a cute pair of eyes or the color of a dog's coat - but those based on the dog's behavior and the expectations of the adopting family. HOW DO WE DO IT? Humane Society staff administered a series of five tests to our dogs after the SAFER evaluation:  The Greeting Test,  The Left Alone Test, The Play Test,  The Food Motivation Test, and The Manners Assessment.  Based on the results of these tests, the evaluator  places the dog  into one of three color-coded groups described below.  HOW DO I MEET MY MATCH? To meet your match, you need to complete the Dog Adopter Survey.  This survey takes only a few minutes and can be done at the shelter facility or ahead of time by clicking HERE.  Shelter Staff will "score" the survey and determine the best match for your person-ality and lifestyle.  Shelter Staff will give you a Guest Pass in the color of your  person-ality and send you on to meet our dogs. Look for dogs with cage cards in the same color as your Guest Pass. BUT WHAT IF .... What if I want to look at the dogs before taking the Dog Adopter Survey? No problem, take a look.  But if you want to adopt a dog, you'll need to take the survey.  It doesn't take long. What if I fall in love with a dog that isn't the same color as my Guest Pass? No problem. You are not required to adopt within your color Guest Pass but be sure to understand the personality of the dog you are adopting and the changes in your lifestyle that will need to be made to make the adoption successful for both you and the dog. What if you do not have a dog that is the same color as my Guest Pass? Ultimately, the Meet Your Match program will be in a nation-wide database and we will be able to find you the right dog.  Until then, hold onto that Guest Pass and stay in touch.  Ok, now our evaluation process is done!
